WOODCRAFTS is proud
to announce the availability of direct copies of
All
of the above replacement stocks are being produced from master patterns copied
directly from top quality original guns of each type. The wood for all of the
American and British produced weapons is veneer grade, kiln-dried American black
walnut unless otherwise specified. The wood for the Austrian and German produced
weapons will be beech, unless otherwise specified. All metal parts fits are
planned to within .005 of the original parts size (normally will be cut
undersize if off at all). Only the inter portions of the buttplate and the
square portion of the breech, where the round cutter can not cut a square
corner, need to be fit on all of the stocks. Most parts fits are press in fit
with original parts. All external wood surfaces are planned to be .020 oversize
to allow for finish sanding. The ramrod hole is drilled in all models originally
having ramrods. Experienced gunsmiths have final-assembled several of the models
listed below with all original parts en less than 12 hours.
In addition to all of
the available stocks patterns listed below, we can serve small numbers of
replacement stocks directly from the stocks from your original guns with
modification as specified. Please contact me by any of the means above for
quotes on time, prices, and any additional information required.

Early
Model 1903 Springfield Rifle Stock with Finger-grooves and Model 1903 National
Match Stocks
Early
Model M-1 Garand Stock.
1795/1808 Musket Stock This high quality stock is a composite of four original stocks and can be finished to the pattern carved or can be varied to copy a variety of slightly smaller original individual stocks. Since the 1795 musket parts were all hand-made, almost all parts vary in size from one musket to another. Therefore, only the lock internals are inlet, leaving enough wood to final inlet the variety of original lock plates. The inletting for the buttplate and trigger guard is undersize and requires detailed fitting of these parts. The stock forearm is long enough to permit the use of up to a 45-inch long barrel.
1814
and 1817 Common Rifle Stocks
Each of these stocks were copied from excellent quality original guns, with the
barrel final fit and the remainder of the other parts inlet .20 to .035
undersize to permit a better final fit of original parts.
1816
and 1842 Springfield Musket Stocks
Each of these stocks was copied from excellent quality original guns with all
parts final fit except the locks on the 1816 model, which are cut .040 undersize
to permit the final fitting of the original locks which varied slightly
because of manual reproduction. Special orders for extra wood remaining
around the rear portion of the lock mortise on the 1842, to finish the Model
1835 variation, are available upon request.
1819
and 1841 Hall Rifle Stocks
This stock was copied from an excellent quality original 1819 model. It
has been inletted for the barrel, receiver. Buttplate and ramrod- channel. By
requesting that the inletting for the trigger guard plate be omitted, the stock
can be reworked to fit the M-1841 Hall. Additionally, this stock can be used for
the 1836 Hall Carbine by requesting that the trigger plate not be inletted. By
shortening the forearm and using a modified dovetail bit, the ramrod channel can
be fitted for the ramrod bayonet.
Model
1841 or Mississippi Rifle
This stock is for the one rifle and has everything final fit except the
buttplate, the band-keeper springs and the nosecap. The stock can be special-
ordered without to patchbox and sideplate to produce
the Confederate model, and/or with the metal parts opening undersize to
accommodate reproduction parts.
Potzdam
Infantry Musket
This copy of a fine German infantry musket is carved with the barrel channel to
dimension and the inletting for the other parts approximately .035
undersize allow for the minor variations in the original parts dimensions
between the various German armories. The stock will be carved from
American-grown beech unless
otherwise specified. Due to major problems trying to duplicate the semi-enclosed
ramrod channel, all stocks will be cut with a ¼
in wide ramrod channel and drilled with a ¼ in ramrod drill. For
those individuals trying to exactly duplicate the original stocks, we will
special cut for a smaller ramrod channel, but will not drill for the ramrod
hole.
1842
Austrian Laurenz Infantry Musket
This copy of a fine Austrian weapon, which was available in both rifled and
smooth-bore models, is carved to the dimension of the original parts. The stock
will be carved from American-grown beech unless otherwise specified. Due to
major problems trying to duplicate the semi-enclosed ramrod channel, all stocks
will be cut with a ¼ in wide ramrod channel and drilled with a ¼ in ramrod
drill. For those individuals trying to exactly duplicate the original stocks, we
will special cut for a smaller ramrod channel, but will not drill for the ramrod
hole.
1
Plymouth
Rifle This
stock was copied from an excellent quality original rifle stock. All original
parts should fit real well. All parts except the buttplate, band keeper springs
and nosecap are final fit.
1861
3-Band Rifled Musket and 3-band Richmond Stock This
stock will make all of the Springfield 3-Band rifled musket stock patterns from
1861 – 1865. Everything is cut in place except the final fit of the buttplate,
the spoon indention for the 1861 ramrod, the band-keeper spring and the nosecap.
With a minimum amount of inletting it will also make the 1855 3-Band Springfield
stock without the patchbox and the Richmond musket.
This stock is also used to make both the 1855 and the 1861-65 artillery
models. This stock is also used to stock the 1866 and 1867 Allen conversions of
the early Springfield trapdoors.
Richmond
Carbine
This is a direct copy of a high quality custom reproduction of an original
carbine. All parts except the buttplate, breech and band-keeper spring are
press-in fit with original parts.
Jenks
Carbine
This is a direct copy of an excellent quality original stock. All parts except
the buttplate and breech are press-in fit with original parts.
1861
Colt Special 3-Band Rifled-Musket
These stocks were copied directly from an excellent quality original
rifled-musket. This stock also is a perfect fit for the L&GY and Amoskeg.
This stock also is used to make the 1861 Special Artillery model by requesting
that the middle band area not be cut. Note, this 1861 special stock does not fit
the 1861 Springfield or other contract muskets except as noted above. The tang
on the buttplate for this stock is narrower than the standard 1861 3-band
musket, the lock is different, and the buttstock shape is different.
Whitney
New Model Mississippi Stock
This
stock was copied from an excellent reproduction rifle after detailed comparison
of all stock dimensions with an excellent quality original rifle.
Remington
Zouve Rifle
This stock was copied from an original Zouve stock; however, because of the
slight variation in the original lock parts, the lock mortise is cut
approximately .040 undersize. Most Italian reproduction parts will fit real well
in this stock.
2-Band
Enfield Rifle The stock was copied from an original Tower stock, and
is cut close enough to restore original rifles and to fit most Parker Hale and
other Italian reproduction parts.
2-Band
Enfield Stock for Barnett Modification
The stock was copied from an original high quality Tower stock with the Barnett
conversion.
3-Band
Enfield Rifled-Musket The
stock was copied from an original Tower stock and is cut close enough to restore
original guns or fit most Parker Hale and other Italian reproduction parts.
1866
and 68 Springfield Trapdoor Cadet Rifle Stock
This is a composite stock that with minimum handwork can make fine copies of
either model.
1868
and 1870 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Stocks
These stocks were copied from a high quality original rifle. The 1868 stock
needs only very minor inletting to lengthen the breech area, and can be used to
fit both models. All other parts are inletted to dimension and should be
press-in fit with original parts.
1873
and 1884 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Stocks
Each of these stocks were copied directly from an excellent quality original
stock and should be press-in fit with original parts, and only need final
fitting of the buttplate and breech area. The 1884 model can be ordered with the
ramrod channel expanded for the ramrod bayonet.
1892,
1896 and 1898 Krag Jorgenson Rifle Stocks
Each of these stocks will be copied directly from a very good to
excellent quality original stocks. Only the buttplate and the breech area
require final fitting. The 1896 and 1989 stocks are currently available, and the
1892 stock is being reworked and should be available by early summer 2000.

REPLACEMENT
STOCKS FOR MODERN REPRODUCTION MUSKETS
Brown Bess Stocks
These stocks are provided as replacement stocks for the Italian mass-produced
Brown Bess Muskets. The stocks are provided in two versions. The first is a
detailed direct copy of the reproduction musket. The second variety has
approximately ¾ of an inch more drop and makes the finished gun much more
comfortable to handle and shoot. The only modification to the original Italian

increase in drop. Both variations are nearly completely inletted for all of the
